The Wentworth Watershed Association is a community-driven organization dedicated to protecting and conserving the natural beauty and ecological health of the Lake Wentworth-Crescent Lake watershed.
Central to our mission is collaboration with local and state agencies, particularly in gathering and utilizing scientific data to tackle environmental challenges like stormwater runoff. By employing data-driven strategies, the Association plans and implements projects that help mitigate the impacts of stormwater, which can carry harmful pollutants into the lakes and damage fragile ecosystems. Visit our Plan & Strategic Mission page to learn more about our process and goals.
The Association is also a strong advocate for outreach and education. We publish and distribute resources to help residents and landowners make environmentally conscious decisions, particularly in shoreline buffering, stormwater management, and septic system maintenance. These efforts help residents and visitors understand and reduce their impact on the watershed.
Additionally, the Wentworth Watershed Association plays a crucial role in land conservation. The organization currently owns or holds conservation easements on 485 acres of environmentally sensitive land, with a continued commitment to protecting more land as opportunities arise. By preserving these areas, we are safeguarding essential wildlife habitats and natural resources while maintaining the watershed’s ecological balance. See our Preserves & Conservation Areas page to learn more about the areas we steward.
Read our Association’s Annual Reports to learn more about our conservation and education work in the watershed through the years.
The Lake Wentworth-Crescent Lake Watershed is a beautiful place that we would like to conserve for wildlife, recreation, and the enjoyment of future generations. Whether you’re a local resident, a seasonal visitor, or simply someone who cares about preserving natural habitats, we encourage you to explore our resources and get involved.
