Saturday June 30Th was our first Milfoil Dive for 2018. With good attendance of Divers and Tenders we combed the known areas for Milfoil in Crescent Lake and found some. A few plants were found in Smith River from the Whitten Neck Bridge west and along the shoreline of the railroad tracks towards Mast Landing. Mast Landing too had a few plants. Exploring out into Mast Landing Bay Milfoil was also found. What we have come to call Devil’s Cove was revisited and the situation in there is much improved over last year but more work will continue this Saturday. 50 gallons of Milfoil was pulled from Brewster Heath and it is believed that we are in good shape there until milfoil is abated in there again this Fall. Good work is being accomplished on the Milfoil front with Goodwin Basin being chemically treated on July 9th. This Saturday, July 7Th, we will meet at 11:00AM in front of the Hoyt residence in Crescent Lake near the mouth of Smith River to continue our work. We are committed to controlling Milfoil with the dream of eliminating it. Tom Ouhrabka
