The Dive Team, which is comprised of many dedicated volunteers, ended their 2017 Season on August 29th officially. Areas that we were hoping to abate were completed and we are very pleased with the outcome of our combined effort this year.
While the Dive Team as a group wound down on the 26th some of us were back in Crescent Lake and Smith River on the 27th to pull a few groups of individual plants. On Monday the 28th more Divers were in Harvey Brook and Hersey Brook where we pulled a barrel and a half of Milfoil leaving some behind. We plan on addressing the remainder of the Milfoil in there before Winter sets in.
Also Aqualogics was in Brewster Heath on the 29th and once again pulled this Summers 200 gallon Milfoil growth after being cleared in the Spring. We await a survey report on the success of the Goodwin Basin treatment which took place back in early June.
The WWA’s commitment to funding and abating Milfoil this year has been extremely generous and we thank you all for helping us towards completing the mission of protecting our Lakes from exotic plants. We plan on starting out once again in early 2018 to search for any Milfoil that may continue to be growing. Thank you, Tom Ouhrabka
