The Annual Meeting of the Wentworth Watershed Association is on August 11th 8:30 to 10 AM in the Town Hall Great Room. Some Association business will be transacted but there will also be a talk by Bob Craycraft about water quality over time in Lake Wentworth and Crescent Lake and talk about how the Lay Lakes Monitoring Program has provided valuable information about protecting the lakes. This is a chance to hear about how the lake is changing and what can be done to keep it as it is. At the meeting, you can also buy Wentworth Watershed clothing, hardware and a 2019 calendar. (The merchandise is available at the Watershed Office, too.)

On August 4th, the Annual Sailboat Race will occur starting at Albee Beach starting at Noon for registration.
Recently, on Saturday July 23rd, kayaks gathered at the mouth of Heath Brook for the Annual Wentworth Watershed Association Paddle. It was a beautiful morning, the fog lifted and about 15 boats congregated and were then lead through the Heath. Leading the adventure were Carol and Zeke Bly, with Skip Oliver in the bow of Zeke’s handcrafted canoe. People learned of the aquatic wonders of the Heath and its importance in cleansing water before it heads into the lake. They witnessed beautiful plant life, views and cool clear water while meandering deep into the Heath Brook parcel. Thank you to the Blys and Skip for taking us on a memorable trip into beautiful Heath Brook.

Also, on July 23rd, there was a picnic at Albee Beach. Fishing Derby awards were given out. There was also a program called Watershed Warriors given by New Hampshire Lakes Association Staff for the junior members of the group and others. Lots of kids participated and learned about what they, as kids, could do to help protect our lake.
