An Update From Crescent Lake

It is a beautiful summer on Crescent Lake with remarkably warm clear water free from algae and cyanobacteria. One recent Sunday kayak on just one corner of the lake gave witness to neighbors swimming, diving, paddleboarding, kayaking, boating, skiing, fishing, sunning, floating and more – surely the joys of summer in the NH Lakes Region.  But, on Crescent we have also had the hopeful anticipation and anxious excitement of a loon birth.  After eggs were destroyed in two successive attempts, our nesting pair took up residence in the floating shelter provided by the Loon Preservation Committee.  You may have heard of residents referring to their “grand puppies,” but at least in Crescent Point we now anxiously watch our “grand loonlet,” in hopes that it survives to adulthood.  Our pictures are courtesy of Rick Crootof.  A beautiful Fall awaits those who stay in Wolfeboro – enjoy!
